Is the safety seal intact?
The jar says: do not use if safety seal is damaged or missing. That is a manufacturer instruction, not a suggestion. A damaged seal means the jar goes back, not into a cupboard.
Is there a lot number and a best-before date?
Look at the base of the jar. The batch we were given is JEL-26/GO-8579. A different lot is normal; no lot at all is not, and a jar with no lot code cannot be traced to anything.
Does the panel match?

We should be plain about what a certificate reference is worth on its own: not much. A reference number is not a test report. We asked for the report and it was not published to us, so the reference is all we can print.
What a JellyRock certificate of analysis would tell you
A certificate of analysis is a laboratory document tied to a batch. A useful one names the laboratory, gives the test dates, states what was tested for and prints the results against specifications.
On this product there is one test we would most like to see, and it is the one the label makes possible to ask for: how much acetic acid is actually in a serving. The panel gives 1,000 mg of complex and a 5% total acid specification for the powder component, which is not the same statement. A certificate would settle it.
The other two worth having are identity and purity. Identity confirms the fruit material is what the label says. Purity covers heavy metals and microbial contamination, which matters on any product containing dried plant material.

Why a lot number matters more than it looks

If a certificate of analysis exists, it is tied to a lot. If you call with a question about the contents, the lot number is what makes the answer specific rather than general.
This is also why a jar with no lot code at all is a genuine warning sign rather than a minor irregularity. Lot coding is a basic requirement of any legitimate supplement manufacturing operation, and its absence says something about where the jar came from.

What a counterfeit or mishandled jar tends to look like
We are not aware of any counterfeit JellyRock and we are not suggesting one exists. What follows is the general pattern across this category, and it is worth knowing for any supplement bought outside a route you trust.
Printing is the usual tell. Text that is slightly blurred, colours that are off, a font that does not match between the front and the back, or a panel where the alignment of the columns is imperfect. Legitimate labels are printed to a commercial standard and look it.
Missing information is the second tell. No lot number, no best-before date, no distributor name and address, or an FDA statement that has been dropped. Those are all required elements and a real label carries them.
Mishandling is different from counterfeiting and, on a gummy, far more common. Heat softens gelatin. A jar that has spent time above about thirty degrees will have fused into a block, and there is no way to tell from the outside how many times that has happened or for how long.
A best-before date on a supplement is a potency assurance, not a safety one.
